About Alternative: Alternative rock (also alternative music, alt-rock or simply alternative; known as indie in the United Kingdom) is a genre of rock music that appeared in the 1980s and became widely popular in the 1990s. This genre usually associated with rock but it also has subgenres which are influenced by folk music, reggae, electronic music and jazz.
In the 1980s most of alternative rock artists didn`t get a success or popularity. But only a few of them like R.E.M.,U2 and The Cure, Nirvana obtain commercial success and mainstream critical recognition. Today alternative rock artists sell dozen of popular songs.
About Gospel: Gospel genre is music which is written to sing of the God and express belief regarding Christian life. This genre of music also refers to secular music depending on the music style. Gospel music are sang by vocals accompanying with choirs, use piano and/or Hammond organ, drums, bass guitar and, increasingly, electric guitar.
Gospel artists sometimes limit themselves singing songs only in religious context as Mahalia Jackson. But some artists perform gospel music in secular settings, even night clubs ( Sister Rosetta Tharpe, The Golden Gate Quartet and Clara Ward).
